MR. PRESIDENT

  OUR MISSION STATEMENT

To promote and improve the economy, and social development of all Benin people in the state of Massachusetts, United State and the world at large.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

 

 

I). To promote Benin culture and social values together with other Nigerian and African cultures.

II). To cooperate with all other Nigerians in an attempt to promote the good image of Nigeria.

III). To improve the economy and social development of all Benin people around the world.

IV). To understand, relate, cooperate and help in the development, of the American community which we live in.

V). To organize from time to time social and cultural activities in accordance with the laws of the commonwealth of Massachusetts and the United States of America.

VI). To develop all available avenues of helping all Benin sons and daughters, and other Nigerians, who are genuinely in need of help.

VII). To promote the economic well- being of members and enhance unity among members.

VIII).  To sponsor/train members for job opportunities

VIIII). To accept, participate, or sponsor activities for a humanitarian purpose.

 

Membership

 

A. Membership of Benin clubs of Massachusetts will be open to all Benin sons and daughters, either by birth or by marriage.

B. Honorary membership.  Honorary membership will be open to community leaders and any person of unquestionable character who expresses interest in the aims and objectives of the club.

Distant membership and proxies:

Any person who meets the requirements of article III section (A) of this constitution but is based outside of Massachusetts of the United State of America can be accepted as a member, provide that he or she pays all fees and dues required of regular members.  In addition, such a person must be of unquestionable character.

 

11). Such a member must attend meeting, at least once a year.

III). Only distant members may vote or participate by proxy in club meetings or activities.

 Membership application will be $100.00 (One time fee)
 Upon acceptance as member of this club, members shall pay a non-refundable monthly due of $ 20.00.
 

General meetings 

 

A. General meeting is schedules for the second Sunday of every month, except January. A special meeting can be called by the executive committee or by the general house to discuss emergency matters.

B. QuorumA quorum shall be formed at a general meeting, when it is 15 minutes past the starting time, with a minimum of ten members.

C. Decorum: Members shall conduct themselves in proper manners at all times. They shall maintain decorum during club meetings. Members shall address each other as OTEN” and other titles that members may have.

D. Personal day: Members shall choose one meeting day as a day off during the year.

 

 

 The officers of the club and their duties shall be as follows:

 

PRESIDENT. He shall be the leader of the club; preside over all general meeting, and all meetings of the executive committee, assign officers and/or members to undertake social or regular tasks upon approval by simple majority of the executive committee or general meeting; appoint and/ or recall committee chair persons with the approval of the executive; be informed by committee chairpersons of all meetings and agendas with reasonable advance notice; have the power to invite lawyers, consultants and advisors to executive /general meetings upon approval by a simple majority, and perform other special duties and /or tasks which the club may assign specifically to him/her insofar as such duties or tasks are legitimate and reasonable.

 

 VICE PRESIDENT: The Vice-President shall assist the President at all times.  In the absence, disability or incapacity of the president, he or she shall have powers to perform the President’s duties.

 

 WHIP:  The whip shall call to order all general meetings of the executive committee; be responsible for the maintenance of law and order during such meetings; bring anybody to book whom in any way violates the constitution and by laws of the club and formally introduce any new member to the general meeting.

 

 GENERAL SECRETARY:  It shall be the duty of the General Secretary to give proper and timely notice of all executive and general meetings; record and present minutes of all significant developments involving the association and /or members; and keep custody of the club’s documents.

 

 ASSISTANT GENERAL SECRETARY: The Assistant General Secretary shall assume the duties and responsibilities of the General Secretary during his/her absence and assist the General Secretary at all times.

 

 TREASURER: The Treasure shall be the custodian of all funds, securities in the name of the club; deposit funds and securities in the name of the Club in any Bank that the club may choose from time to time; and issue checks and vouchers subject to the approval of the President, Vice-President and Financial Secretary.  The executive committee and/or general meeting at any time to give a full and detailed account of the Club’s money may call upon him or her.

 

 SOCIAL SECRETARY: The Social Secretary is the chairperson of the Social Committee.  He or she shall be in charge and responsible for all social activities, coordinate activities for members; organize receptions, send off parties, and keep records of all social functions, shall also serve as the public liaison officer of the Club.

 

 

 FINANCIAL SECRETARY: The financial secretary shall take charge of the collection of monthly dues and penalty fees at each and every meeting. In his/her absence, the president or the whip shall appoint any present bona-fide member to hold briefly.

 

 AUDITOR: The auditor must be someone who has the knowledge of accounting. He or she shall present to the executive committee and the general meeting a quarterly statement of the club’s account and a financial statement of the year, and shall examine all records and books of accounts with the financial secretary and the treasurer from time to time and as direct by the general meeting, and the executive committee.

 

             

Benefits shall only be accorded to active full fledge members with good financial standing. The organization also participate in Edo National Association Endowment fund.
